BBQ Shrimp
Beef and pork may be more common barbecue dishes, but this prawn recipe blends original sauce, lemon juice, paprika and garlic into an easy and delicious dish.
Ingredients
-
1 kilo large shrimp, in shell
-
4 large cloves of garlic, minced
-
1/2 cup water
-
1 chive (green and white parts), chopped
-
Warm crusty bread
Preparation Method
- Prepare the prawns by removing the legs and, if desired, unpeel them, but leave the shells on.
- In a large frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until it begins to soften about 1 minute. Add the water, BBQ sauce, lemon juice, and paprika. Bring to a boil, reduce, and cook over low heat (gently bubbling, but constantly breaking up the entire surface), stirring occasionally, until the liquid thickens and no longer looks “watery,” about 7 minutes.
- Add the shrimp and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook, stirring constantly until the shrimp shells are pink and the shrimp roll slightly for about 5 minutes. (Test one to see that the flesh is firm but not dry, and slides easily out of the shells.)
- Sprinkle the chives over the prawns and serve hot, straight from the pan, with crusty bread to wipe away the sauce.
