Product Description
French cuisine and Espelette pepper go hand in hand. It’s the pepper of the Basque region and a staple for local recipes.
Originally from Espelette – a small community near Biarritz, this Chili found a very special microclimate that allowed the cultivation in unique conditions. Due to the unique production characteristics, Espelette Pepper was the first in the world to obtain the European Certificate of Protected Origin Appeal (AOP) in 2002.
Their exceptional features set them apart from the others: A vibrant colour that displays shades of scarlet red to a rustic brownish-red. Due to its sweet and delicate bitterness and a spicy after taste that never camouflages the complex flavour, Espelette pepper has a prominent role in traditional Basque cuisine.
In its jelly version it is perfect for enhancing vinaigrette, instead of mustard and for true chilli lovers, why not treat yourself to a little spoonful just like that?!
