Product Description
Kirsch is a cherry brandy. More than 40 years after first applying for it, Kirsch de Fougerolles finally obtained the long-awaited AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) label in 2010: a true recognition of a product with deep roots in the Fougerolles terroir.
To obtain a Kirsch of this quality, rigour and tradition are required. First the cherries are carefully chosen, the fruit is fermented with the stones, without heating or adding yeast, sugar or any chemicals for at least five weeks before the delicate distillation stage. Here, copper, fire, patience and know-how come together. The eau-de-vie thus obtained reveals all its aromas and power. Finally comes the maturation, years in a neutral vessel. But there is still a capital stage missing, the tasting by a committee of experts to guarantee the quality of the vintage.
A typical, century-old Eau-de-Vie Kirsch, with a light almond note and good length in the mouth. The know-how of Grandes Distilleries Peureux is recognised by a Controlled Designation of Origin. The selected bottle is unique having engraved with the effigy of Fougerolles: the Fougerolles’ Bô!
Kirsch de Fougerolles AOC Peureux® won the bronze medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris in 2020.
Tasting notes: clear and colourless appearance, on the nose it presents initial notes of almond followed by cherry and floral finish. On the palate presents notes of almond followed by fresh and candied cherries and a clean and subtle finish.
