Did you know that marshmallows origins from a flower of the same name? It was created around 2000 BC in ancient Egypt and was made of honey and flavoured with the mallow sap (Althaea officinalis), a plant known as marshmallow.
At that time it was only intended for members of royalty for medicinal purposes.
During the nineteenth century, the French realized that the sap of this plant when beaten became a light, fluffy, spongy and delicious mass. Improving the recipe, they presented this treat to the rest of the world in 1800.
Nowadays is a popular and traditional candy in the United States, where marshmallows are eaten roasted, prepared over a fire or other source of flames.
Ingredients:
Glucose syrup, sugar, dextrose, water, stabilizer (E420), modified starch, gelatin (beef), colouring food (safflower concentrate, beetroot concentrate), natural flavour (vanilla).
Storage:
Keep in a cool and dry place, protected from sunlight. Onde opened, store in na airtight container.
Preparation Suggestion:
Put a Marshmallow on the stick and hold it over the fire until roasted. Toast Marshmallows until the outside starts to be golden brown and just starting to get mushy. Enjoy.
Usage Suggestions:
Enjoy them neat, with hot chocolate or mochachino coffee, as a sweet potato or topping for ice cream and cakes, and other various types of food.
