Since 1738, the Passanha Heirs have been perpetuating the production of olive oil and vinegar at Quinta de São Vicente located in Ferreira do Alentejo, Portugal. The rich Alentejo plain occupies a large part of the southern half of Portugal. It has been inhabited since the night of time, first by indigenous tribes, then by the Romans, Visigoths and Arabs. With hot sun, dry climate and clay soil, Alentejo represents the best of cultivated land in Portugal.
Originating in the Serenissima Republic of Genoa (then under the name of Pessagno), Quinta de São Vicente settles in Portugal in the 14th century. After a few decades on Portuguese soil, the ancestors give the name a more Portuguese sound. Creating the name Passanha. In 1738, they settled in the region of Beja, in the heart of the Alentejo. Quinta de São Vicente is born. Quinta de São Vicente is a manor house in a romantic style, where gardens, terraces, arcades and colonnades abound. The famous Portuguese tiles are omnipresent here.
