To create its exquisite chocolates and nougats, D. Barbero has spent decades searching for the best ingredients, based on traditional family recipes and constantly innovating in the search for perfection.
The creator of D. Barbero was Filippo Barbero, who during those years worked as a confectioner and “prestinaio” (a baker who at the time made cakes, nougats, torcetti and noisettes, as well as bread) at the church of the Annunziata in Mombercelli d’Asti, Italy.
1883 was the “official” date of birth for the Barbero company: Melchiorre Barbero applied for and obtained a licence to sell nougat and “noasetti”.
In 1903, D. Barbero was awarded a gold medal for the exhibition of samples in Castelfranco Veneto.
In 1994, a flood hit the city of Asti, Italy, where the factory suffered major damage and was in danger of closing down. This tragic event gave a new impetus to the company, which was reborn stronger than before, conquering new markets at national and global level.
