APIMEL is a beekeeping farm with three decades of existence and recognized merits for the quality of its products.
Apimel is a family business, founded by Fernando Ventura in 1981. Beekeeping already had a tradition of several generations in the family when, in the early 70’s, its founder, born in Lisbon and still residing in Estoril, decided to give the first steps towards professionalization. He deepened his knowledge through various courses and training activities that included the Complete Beekeeping Course.
The few beehives that were initially a hobby began to multiply and his deep passion for the culture and geography of the mountainous region of the center of the country, combined with the desire to live a healthier life away from the noise of the city, make him move in 1980 with his family to the countryside, establishing almost all of his apiaries in Serra da Lousã, becoming the only professional producer in the region.
